Comcast, I am not happy
Well, Comcast has gone and done it. Starting October 1, 2008, residential customers of Comcast will be limited to 250GB of bandwidth a month. Yes, 250GB is a lot of bandwidth except when you think about the direction the net is going. Huge, high quality videos, streaming animation and news streams, Linux ISO's, and more will eat up 250GB in fairly short order.
Another wonderful item to look forward to is what kind of overage charges will apply.

This Week in Photography
Just caught the latest episode of This Week in Photography. As usual, it's fun and informative. I think Alex Lindsay is pretty awesome. I remember him from his tips on TechTV.
Potentially awesome point-and-shoot
I am very excited about this new camera from Panasonic: The LX3.

Nikon announces new cameras
Nikon just announced six new Coolpix cameras including the P6000. The P6000 lists for $499.00 and is clearly Nikon's answer to the Canon G9. Hopefully Nikon has solved the horrific barrel distortion issues with the P5000/P5100 models with this upgrade.

Free Culture thoughts
I am constantly amazed at the growth of the free culture movement. As a member of Flickr, I love to see members sharing their images. Not sharing in the way we traditionally think of sharing, but in a relatively new way. This new way of sharing is not just showing someone a picture, it's also someone taking that photo and changing it, legally. We are seeing pictures and images remixed in new ways... a true participatory style of culture, free culture. Creative Commons licenses are spreading at an incredible rate, and Flickr is just one example of a platform for this growth.
